As it was in the days of old “Praise and Worship Meetings” were
developed in homes. Evolving from antebellum living to free land
The Marshall family were earlier settlers of Freeport. Most of the
residents of the “Negro Reservation” area were descendants of
the Levi Jordan Plantation in Brazoria. This house is the actual home of Lucille Marshall on the east end of Freeport on 6th street. She and 3 others were the founders of Wesley Chapel African Methodist Episcopal Church. The first “Praise and Worship” was in this home.
